Cuevas Bajas is situated to the north of Antequera area in the province of Malaga with a population of approx 1,500 people known as “Cueveños” and is 323 meters above sea level. The land around the town is mainly low Mediterranean scrubland, with large areas of olive plantations. The history of the human settlement in this area goes back to Palaeolithic times, to judge by various hunting implements found in the Cueva de Belda. The most Copper Age burial grounds are here too.
